Samuel L. Bell
Samuel LeVern (Vern) Bell, 92, of Clintonville died at 10:54 pm Thursday in the Grove City United Community Hospital.
Born January 28, 1895, in Frost, Forest County, he was a son of William P. and Margaret A. Chambers Bell.
He married the former Mary V. Miller in Franklin on Febru­ary 5, 1918. They observed their 69th wedding anniversary this year.
The Bells first moved to Goff but within a short time relocated to Clintonville.
Mr. Bell worked in the coal mines and oil fields in the Clintonville area and also was a teamster for Harry Hoffman. He later worked in the grinding department of Cooper Energy Services of Grove City, retiring in 1963.
He was a life member of the Clintonville Presbyterian Church and the Adult Bible class of the church.
A veteran of World War I, he served with the Army in France.
He was Clintonville's oldest veteran and also the oldest member of the Meals-Hoffman American Legion, Post. He was ­active in that organization until he became ill.
Mr. Bell also was an avid fisherman and hunter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Burton (Helen) Ekis of Clintonville and Mrs. Joseph (Esther G.) Kelly of Harrisville RD 1; two sons, Donald L. Bell of Harrisville RD 1 and William M. Bell of Emlenton RD 2; a sister, Mrs. Jack (Ruth) VanWormer of Emlenten RD 1; a brother, Harry Bell of Grove City RD 1.
Also surviving are 18 grand­children; 43 great-grandchil­dren; and two great-great­grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dale; five sisters; two brothers; and three grandchildren.
The Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home of Clintonville is in charge of arrangements.

Mary V. Bell
Mrs. Mary V. Bell, 86, of Clintonville, died at 5:20 am Friday in the United Communi­ty Hospital at Grove City, following an extended illness. She had been hospitalized since March 7.
Born May 14, 1901, in Clin­ton Township, she was a daughter of Sylvester M. and Margaret E. Sloan Miller.
She attended schools in Clin­ton Township and lived in that area most of her life.
She married Samuel LeVern Bell on February 5, 1918. He died on February 19, 1987.
Mrs. Bell was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Clintonville.
She also was a charter mem­ber of the Harmony Grove Club, organized in 1923. As long as her health permitted, she took part in quilting with the group. She belonged to the auxiliary of the Meals-Hoffman American Legion Post.
Survivors include two sons, Donald L. Bell of Harrisville RD 1, and William M. Bell of Emlenton RD 2; two daughters, Mrs. Burton (Helen) Ekis of Clintonville and Mrs. Joseph (Esther) Kelly of Harrisville RD 1; a sister, Mrs. Chester (Bern­ice M.) Yard of Grove City; a brother, Harold K. Miller of West Sunbury; 18 grandchil­dren; 43 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchil­dren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dale Bell; a sister, Mrs. Samuel (Opal L.) Heckathorn; five brothers, Charles A., Isaac B., Leo F., Lawrence E. and Justa D. Miller, and three grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home of Clintonville.
