General Notes: Husband - Milton Samuel Bell

He obtained his education in the public schools of Burrell township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. When a boy he began to clerk in his father's store, and subsequently going out to Ohio clerked for about ten years with his brother in the hardware business. On his return to Blacklick, in 1897, he bought out the general mercantile business from his father's estate and conducted it on his own account, giving all his time and attention to the store. He made extensive improvements in the accommodations, bringing the establishment up-to-date in equipment and convenient arrangement; the store was the largest of the kind in Blacklick. Mr. Bell was one of the organizers of the First National Bank of Blacklick, which he served as director.
He and his wife were members of the Christian Science Church, and both were ardent admirers of the late Mrs. Eddy and her doctrines. Socially he was an Odd Fellow and Mason, belonging to the I. O. O. F. lodge at Blacklick, and to Halcyon Lodge, No. 498, F. & A. M., of Cleveland, Ohio, and Thatcher Chapter, No. 101, Royal Arch Masons, of Cleveland. He was a stanch Republican, but took no active part in politics.
