General Notes: Husband - Matthew Johnson

He was born in County Down, Ireland, and immigrated to America about 1789. He purchased a team in eastern Pennsylvania and started for the country west of the Ohio river, but when he arrived in South Huntingdon township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, one of his horses dropped dead - and not being able to replace it with one which suited him, he concluded to go no further west and purchased a farm upon which he resided until his death. He was a farmer, a democrat and a member of the United Presbyterian church.
