He and his wife were members of the Irwin Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where they are buried. They moved from Butler County to a farm in Irwin Township, Venango County, about 1852-53, following his brother Joseph to that vicinity. The family is of German origin. Of the family born to Mr. and Mrs. Beighlea six reached maturity, two sons and four daughters.
