About the year 1798 John Wilson, father of Hugh, arrived direct from Ireland, with two grown daughters, and settled in Union Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
The first death in Union township was that of John Wilson, father of Hugh, who departed this life in June, 1799, and was buried in a natural mound in the forest.
