General Notes: Husband - John Wright

He was born and married in Lancaster County, PA. [HMC 1909, 893]
He was born, reared and married in Lancaster County, PA. Migrating from there to Mercer County in about 1804, he purchased one hundred and thirty acres of timbered land in East Lackawannock Township, and on the farm which he hewed from the wilderness, improved a homestead on which he resided until his death. [HMC 1909, 893] HMC 1888 states that it was his father who migrated to Mercer County and purchased this land. HMC 1909 states that his father joined him in Mercer County in his (the father's) later years.

He followed farming and coal operating. He was an elder in the United Presbyterian Church for many years, being such at the time of his death. His wife belonged to the same church. Politically he was a Democrat. He served a short time in the War of 1812. He was county treasurer one term and commissioner several terms, and served in various local township offices.
