In 1819, he came to Butler County, Pennsylvania, and bought a farm from the trustees of the Pittsburgh Academy, and returned to his native State, Connecticut, for his family. They left Burlington, January 17, 1820, and four weeks and one day later arrived at their new home, having traveled the entire distance in a one-horse sleigh.
