General Notes: Husband - Edward Lobingier Rose

Born on the old family homestead, all his life he was identified with his native region. The splendid old farm which he inherited from his ancestors contained one hundred and ten acres of very fertile soil which had been brought to a condition of great fertility by the consecutive efforts of a number of generations of skillful and industrious farmers. To this farm Mr. Rose added two other properties, the first consisting of forty-one and a half acres and the second of one hundred and fifty acres. These properties, however, he operated in partnership with John K. Fox, the two of them carrying on extensive agricultural operations together. Certain departments of what had grown to be a large business were left entirely to Mr. Rose, and these included the breeding and rearing of a fine stock of Percheron horses, the breeding and rearing of hogs, and the operation of a dairy farm, the milk being supplied by ten cows, the products being disposed of in Mount Pleasant. Mr. Rose's property was underlaid with a valuable deposit of coal, a part of which consisted of a rich four foot vein, which he operated. Mr. Rose was a member of the School Board, and for six years or more was treasurer of the School Board. He was a staunch Republican in his politics, and was affiliated with the local lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was particularly fond of hunting and never allowed a year to pass without taking a trip into the wilderness, to indulge himself in this favorite pastime.

General Notes: Wife - Mary C. Beck

Her father was killed in a railroad accident when she was only six years old and her mother died the following year, so she was left an orphan at the age of seven. She was brought up by Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Miller of East Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
