The name Wade or Wada existed among the Anglo-Saxons. Both in England and America, the surname Wade or Waid, far more often written in the former of these spellings, is a name of prominence.

He served for a short time in the Revolutionary War. Later, he settled in Ontario County, New York. [GPHNP, 423]
