General Notes: Husband - George Beaver

He was born in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, but soon removed to Perry County. After receiving an education in the public schools he learned the trade of tanner at Stumpstown, in his native county, and then conducted business in Pfoutz valley, Perry County. In 1830, he purchased the farm later the home of his son, Samuel, and continued to devote his energies to its cultivation until his death. One year before his death, he also bought the farm on which his son, George E., later resided; both places had, about 1800, been owned by John Long, grandfather of Mrs. Beaver. Mr. Beaver was a Democrat until 1854, belonged to the Know-Nothing party during its brief existence, and then became a Republican. In company with several others, he at one time conducted an independent Democratic journal which afterwards became the Republican People's Advocate and Press. Mr. Beaver served in the State legislature, being elected in 1841; he also served as county commissioner in 1833-34.
