General Notes: Husband - Enoch Varnum

He emigrated from England, and during the Revolutionary war took up arms in behalf of his adopted country, and during the battle of Gen. St. Clair against the Indians was seriously wounded in the shoulder, and thus incapacitated him for manual labor. He settled in Washington Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he died in his ninetieth year. His son William occupied the old homestead. Three of his children grew to maturity: Philip, William and Catharine. [HBC 1883, 341]
