General Notes: Husband - Alexander Vance


He enlisted in the First Regiment, West Virginia Volunteer Infantry, and was wounded at Grafton. Immediately after being discharged from the hospital he re-enlisted in Company A, Eighty-fifth Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and served in that company until the close of the war, having veteranized by his third enlistment; during his service he participated in twenty-five decisively fought battles, including those of the Peninsular campaign.
