General Notes: Husband - William Beatty

He was born east of the mountains in Pennsylvania, and settled in what is now Bethel township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. [HAC 1914, 759]

The Beattys came to the north of Ireland from Scotland, and after several generations there a descendant, William Beatty, born 1783, came to the United States. He was a good blacksmith, but seems to have been an equally good teamster and driver. He spent most of his life in America in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, and was one of the old stage coach drivers running from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. He was a strong Democrat, and a Presbyterian. [GPHAV, 216]

He and his wife, natives of New Jersey, moved to Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, soon after their marriage. He was the owner of two hundred acres of land; a blacksmith by trade, he had his shop on his premises, engaging in both blacksmithing and farming. He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church. [GPHWP, 262]

He spent his entire life in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, where he followed the trade of a wagonmaker and was also engaged in business as an undertaker. [HWC 1906 ii, 192]
