General Notes: Husband - John Peter Willard


He came to America as a soldier in the British service [during the Revolutionary War], but shortly after landing eflected his escape. He then volunteered in the cause of the Colonies, and was with other deserters stationed on the Indian frontier or as guard of prisoners of war. At the close of the Revolution he took up a tract of land in Lykens township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, called "Amsterdam," where he settled, began farming, and subsequently married.
