He took up a farm, on which he lived, on Chartiers creek, near Bridgeville, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He was an elder in Bethel Presbyterian Church during the pastorate of Rev. William Woods. He died and with his wife lies buried in Bethel churchyard.
