General Notes: Wife - Elisabeth Turner

She made the journey with her parents, two brothers and sister, through the wilderness as to their new home in Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
She died after a brief but painful illness, in the seventh year of her age. Although her parents were not aware of it at the beginning of her illness, it became their settled conviction that her death was caused by the bite of a venomous snake-possibly a rattler, which abounded in the forests in those days. Hers was the first interment in the Zahnizers cemetery located one mile north of Jackson Center. It was found necessary to cut and pile large logs over the grave to prevent wild animals from digging it up.
