General Notes: Husband - James Guthrie

---

During his early life he was a land surveyor. He was later engaged in the real estate business, and for fifteen years fol-lowed the occupation of a tanner. He was a justice of the peace in the borough of Apollo, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, for ten years, and in the years 1872-3 was assistant clerk in the land office at Harrisburg, under his son. He and his wife were members of the Methodist Epis-copal church.
