Louise B. Montgomery
Mrs. Louise B. Montgomery, 63, of 718 Rocky Grove Ave., Franklin, died at 11:35 pm Thursday in Franklin Hospital, where she had been admitted September 13.
Born April 1, 1918, in Franklin, she was a daughter of Henry A. and Hazel Porter Beatty.
She spent her entire life in Franklin and attended Franklin and Rocky Grove public schools. She graduated in 1937 from Franklin High School.
After graduation she was employed at General Manifold and Printing Co., and later at Woolworth's.
She was an Avon representative for many years.
A well-known seamstress, Mrs. Montgomery was also skilled in crocheting, knitting and bead craft.
A camper and square dancer, she was active with Shin Diggers for
several years; and also bowled in the Tuesday Evening Ladies Bowling League.
Mrs. Montgomery attended Galloway United Methodist Church, and was a member of Franklin Chapter of Women of the Moose.
She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, mainly as a kitchen worker, and was recipient of the 1979 Woman of the Year award for the auxiliary.
On April 24, 1940, she married Eugene H. Montgomery. He preceded her in death February 11, 1975.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Charles H. (Carol) Hagerty of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Mrs. David E. (Sandra) McAlevy, Charles E., John Jay and Tammy Jo Hagerty, all of Franklin, and James E., Timothy W. and Edward J. Montgomery, all of Cooperstown; a sister, Mrs. Wallace J. (Jane) Reynolds of Franklin; and a brother, Robert G. Beatty of North Washington.
Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by a son, Donald E., and an infant sister and brother.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today in Huff Chapel in Franklin.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Sunday in the funeral home, with Rev. Jaime Potter Miller, pastor of Galloway United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
