General Notes: Husband - Christian Welker

Choosing farming as the occupation best suited to his tastes, he began life for himself in Franklin County, PA. He was there engaged in tilling the soil until 1842, when, accompanied by his wife and seven children, and all of his earthly possessions, he came to western Pennsylvania, traversing the whole distance with teams. He located in that part of Mercer County later included in Washington Township, Lawrence County, on land which his father had received from the government for his services in the Revolutionary war. In the midst of the wilderness, he built a log house, in which the family lived several years. Industrious and persevering, he, with the assistance of his sons, cleared a productive farm, on which he resided until his death, at the age of seventy-three years.
He and his wife had twelve children that lived to maturity.

General Notes: Wife - Eliza Teeter

She died at the age of eighty-two.
