General Notes: Husband - George Swartz

He built one of the first sawmills on Elk creek in Penn township, Centre County, Pennsylvania. He was a leading member of the Evangelical Church, and was the father of eleven children.

He located in Penn township, Centre County, in the latter part of the eighteenth century, and built the first sawmill on Elk creek, which was erected on the site of the mill later owned by his grandson, H. M. Swartz. He also followed farming in connection with its operation.
