General Notes: Husband - John Strobel

He was reared at Leidringer, Westonburg, Germany, and at an early day he was apprenticed to the potter's trade, but finding that occupation uncongenial he abandoned it, and following his return home he was apprenticed to a brewer, and when seventeen years of age he emigrated to the United States, locating in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. There he found employment in the Westoverton Distillery and promotion eventually made him head distiller. About 1847 he resigned his position and became head distiller in the Fisher distillery at Fisherdale, Pennsylvania, while later he superintended the Painter Salt Works, the Cochran Salt Works and the Fox distillery. He was a member of the Lutheran church and was a Democrat in his political views. While acting as head distiller in the Westoverton distillery he was married.

He was a native of Würtemberg, Germany. He emigrated to America from Germany about 1831, settling in Hempfield township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He was a salt maker by trade. He met his death through an accident.

General Notes: Wife - Barbara Weinman

She came with her parents from Germany to America when twelve years of age.
