General Notes: Husband - Hon. Lazarus Stewart


He came from Hanover township, Lancaster (later Dauphin) County, Pennsylvania, to western Pennsylvania when a young man.

He was the first sheriff of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, who officiated at the first and only public hanging in the county.

He was twice a member of the legislature, and twice elected sheriff of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
