He was educated in the common schools of his native town. His occupation was that of a blacksmith, and he was for some years in business for himself, in Harrison City. He belonged to Lodge No. 486, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, of Jeannette, and voted with the Republican party. He was a member of the Reformed church.
