General Notes: Husband - Andrew J. Standley


He was educated in the common schools, enlisted for service in the Civil War September 18, 1861, in Company A, Fifty-Third Ohio Volunteer Infantry, was discharged September 31, 1863, re-enlisted in the field as a veteran, and was discharged the second time, August 11, 1865. He was with his regiment in all of its engagements. He was never wounded, although he had a narrow escape from injury at Pittsburg Landing, his cap being shot from his head while he was eating breakfast.
