General Notes: Husband - Lewis A. Welch


He was a shoemaker by trade. During the Civil war he fought as a member of Company E, 148th Regiment, P. V. I., under Colonel Beaver, in the 2d Army Corps, Army of the Potomac. During his latter years he farmed on the old Spargo place in South Mahoning township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and died at Salona, while attending a reunion. He was a stanch Republican and a faithful member of the Baptist Church, as well as a popular comrade of the Union Veterans' Legion.
