General Notes: Husband - Daniel Beam

He remained with his father until he had attained his majority, and then started out in life for himself, first operating rented land. For five years after his marriage, in 1845, he was thus employed, and then, in partnership with his brother, engaged in farming until 1861, when he located on his own farm which he had previously purchased, the same year erecting a good residence, and the following year building a large barn. Ninety-five of the 175 acres he cleared and brought under a high state of cultivation, and to its improvement and development he devoted his entire time and attention; in previous years, however, he also followed lumbering and rafting.
He was an active and prominent member of the United Brethren Church, of which he served as trustee. He usually voted with the Democratic party.
