He was educated at Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster City, Pennsylvania, graduating there in 1874. In the fall of the same year he began reading medicine in the office of Dr. Senseney, of Chambersburg, and graduated at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, in 1877. He began practicing in Antrim Township, Franklin township, after his graduation, and he lived on and had charge of the old family homestead. His family was connected with the Reformed Church. In politics he was a Democrat. [HFC 1887, 729]

He was educated in the public schools, and was graduated at Franklin and Marshall College in 1874. He studied medicine with Dr. A. H. Senseny, in Chambersburg, and was graduated M. D. at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, in 1877. He practiced for a year in West Virginia; then he returned to Antrim township, where he was in active practice at Shady Grove beginning in 1880. He was a member of the State Medical Society, and of the Medical Society of Franklin County. Fraternally he was affiliated with the B. P. O. E., and his religious connection was with Grace Reformed Church, Greencastle. [BAFC, 227]
