General Notes: Husband - Stewart Smith

He was of Scotch-Irish-English blood, and was a school teacher and linen manufacturer near Belfast, Ireland. In religion he was a Protestant and became a follower of Mr. Wesley in the early days of the Methodist movement. He was a class leader and local preacher in the church both in Ireland and America. When the family emigrated to the United States in 1814 they settled first in Brooke County, Virginia (later West Virginia), near Wellsburg, and afterwards removed to Jefferson County, Ohio.
