The German ancestor of this family set­tled in eastern Pennsylvania, where he tilled the soil, married and reared a family. De­scendants settled in Clarion County, where the father of Jacob Slaughenhoupt, and wife, both died leaving a large family. He was a farmer and supported the Democratic party.
