General Notes: Husband - Rev. Frederick Christian Bauman

He was born in Eberschütz, Germany, and came to America at ten years of age. He attended the common schools of Pulaski, Williams County, Ohio, for a short time and then entered Heidelburg college at Tifflin, Ohio, from which he graduated in 1853. After graduation he located at Zwingle, Iowa, where he actively engaged in ministerial labors. In the early days of his ministry he extended his labors to the section of country surrounding Zwingle, organized several congregations within a radius of fifty miles and traveled on foot to supply the most of his appointments.

He obtained his education in Heidelberg College (Tiffin, Ohio), graduating in 1853, and the Theological Seminary at the same place, from which he was graduated in 1855, and became a minister in the Reformed church, filling the pastorate at Zwingle, Iowa, for over fifty-two years. He was one of the founders and the first postmaster of the town of Zwingle, and founded a number of congregations within a radius of sixty miles from this town. In politics he was a liberal Democrat.
