He came to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, in 1870 and entered the employ of the Western File Works as a clerk; was successively promoted to assistant bookkeeper, bookkeeper and general traveling agent, and in February, 1887, was appointed general manager and superintendent. He was a member of the Presbyterian church; he was a F. & A. M., a R. A. M., a member of the A. O. U. W. and American Legion of Honor; in politics he was a Republican.
