He resided on a ranch that had been homesteaded by the Huser family. He was active in wheat growing, black angus cattle, served several years as county commissioner of Hamilton County. He and his wife moved to Ault in Weld County, Colorado, built a beautiful new home, and did irrigated farming for about ten years before retiring to Greeley County. They traveled extensively.
