E. Sollinger, Ex-Emlenton Man, Dies
EMLENTON \emdash Edward E. Sollinger, 86, former Emlenton resident, died at 1:30 p. m. Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital in Lancaster, following a week's illness.
Mr. Sollinger had bean making his home in Lancaster with his son, Lawrence C. Sollinger. A son of William and Melissa Sollinger, he was born July 29, 1877, in Salem.
His wife, the former Effie M. Shirey, died in 1940.
Mr. Sollinger lived in Emlenton until 1934, when he left this area to live in Lancaster after he retired as a laborer.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Emlenton and the former Maccabees Lodge.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Copp of Painted Post, N. Y.; five sons, Raymond D. of Emlenton, Lawrence C. of Lancaster, R. Cordon of Knox, Edgar V. of Emlenton RD 1, and Rev. Merle F. Sollinger of Rawleigh, N. C.; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Oran of Franklin and Floyd of Slaton, Texas.
Prayer services will be held in Lancaster this evening. Removal will be made to the Criswell Funeral Home in Emlenton where friends will be received after 7 p. m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. J. J. Gilbert, former pastor of St. John Reformed Church of Emlenton, officiating.
Interment will be in the Emlenton Cemetery.
