General Notes: Husband - Charles M. Shirey

He made his home on the old Shirey homestead during his entire life. For his education he attended the local public schools, and having completed his education at these institutions, he assisted his father in the work on the old farm. After his marriage, he took entire charge of the old farm, and at his father's death purchased another tract of one hundred and fifty acres, which was known as one of the best in the neighborhood. On these two places he carried on extensive agricultural operations with the highest degree of success and began to conduct a dairy, to which a herd of twenty cows contributed their milk, and the product of which was sold wholesale in Latrobe. He was a Democrat in politics, and a staunch and active member of the Lutheran church.
