He was educated in Germany and the common schools of Venango County, PA. He served three terms as poor director of Butler County and was a school director. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. of Franklin, and a Democrat.

Mrs. Anna Seber.
Mrs. Anna Seber, aged 75 years, died at 5:45 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of her son, Samuel Sesber, Prospect Park, following a five weeks' illness from a complication of diseases.
She was born on March 6, 1848, in Sugarcreek township and had lived practically all her life in Dempseytown.
She is survived by two sons, Samuel, at whose home she died, and Jacob, of Titusville; and one daughter, Mrs. Emma Gibbons, of Muttontown. Also by the following brothers and sisters Lewis Whitman, Samuel Whitman, Lemuel Whitman, Mrs. Lucy Rice and Mrs. Oscar Whitman, all of Sugarcreek township.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock at the home of her son; interment will follow in the cemetery at Dempseytown.
