General Notes: Husband - William Leithold

He was reared a farmer and received his education in the public schools. He first settled in Jef­ferson township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, and in 1870 purchased a farm of 164 acres in Clear­field township, on which he erected all of the buildings, and otherwise improved. The family were adherents of the Lutheran church, and were connected with the Butler congregation. In politics, Mr. Leithold was a Democrat, but in local affairs was an independent voter. He was the owner of one of the finest improved farms in the county, on which he had three producing oil wells, which brought him considerable income.
