General Notes: Husband - John Seaman

In 1729 [sic] and until 1784 he is found enrolled in the militia under Colonel Gehr, as were his brothers, Eberhart and Jacob. Whether he or they saw active service in the conflict with the British or with the Indians upon the remote frontiers in the interior of Pennsylvania is unknown. In the department of internal affairs at Harrisburg there is record that a warrant (No. 365) for 130 acres of land was issued to John Seaman on November 15, 1790, while his name appears in the tax lists of Bern township from 1785 until his death. He followed the profession of surveying, and also received an appointment from Governor Thomas McKean in 1805 as a justice of peace. In 1811 his name appears as a member of St. Michael's Church. [GPHWP, 183]

He was with Gen. George Washington at Valley Forge. [GPHWP, 91]

He and his wife had eleven children.
