General Notes: Husband - Christopher Winter

He was a native of Germany, whence, when a young man, he came to America, and to Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he purchased a tract of land in Donegal township, before the beginning of the eighteenth century.

He emigrated from Germany to America, stopping first in Pennsylvania east of the mountains. There he married and with his wife crossed the mountains, and settled in Donegal township, Washington County. He took up a tract of land containing four hundred acres, and afterwards bought three hundred acres of the McClelland tract. The land which Christopher Winter took up was later the property of the Linvilles and David Winter. The family of Christopher Winter was four sons and four daughters.
The Winter family has been intimately associated with the church of the United Brethren in Christ.
