General Notes: Husband - John Calvin Sampson


He enlisted in the first year of the Civil war in Company F, 100th regiment of Pennsylvania infantry from his home in Wilmington township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. After participating in a number of engagements he was taken prisoner and died in Columbia, S. C., aged 18 years. Permission was given Maj. J. H. Cline, an officer of the 100th regiment, to witness the burial of the young soldier.
