General Notes: Husband - William Franklin Rutherford


He received his primary education in the schools of Swatara township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and afterwards attended the Mt. Joy Academy, Lancaster County, for five years. He subsequently engaged in farming. In 1860 he taught school for one year.
He was a Republican and in 1864 was elected school director, and served three years. He also served as assessor.
He was connected with the Pennsylvania State Agricultural Society for over thirty years and was its treasurer for part of this time.
He was a member of the Paxtang Presbyterian church and was secretary of the board of trustees of that church.
