"In the days of his young manhood he gave his heart to Christ, under the preaching of Rev. Cyrus Butler, of the Methodist Episcopal Church, at Wilson, Connecticut, during the last twenty-three years of his life he was an invalid, he died in April 1866; he selected for his funeral discourse the text: For me to live is Christ, to die is gain."
