General Notes: Wife - Nancy Jane "Nannie" Rodgers

She was widely known throughout the western part of Pennsylvania as a school teacher. She received her final education at Jamestown Seminary and was fitted for her profession when seventeen years of age. Her labors as a teacher covered various townships in both Mercer and Crawford counties, and she taught in the public schools of Sandy Lake, Sharpsville and Greenville. She also showed considerable ability as a writer. Her "History of the Rodgers Family," a blank verse poem written in "Hiawatha" meter, was read at the "Rodgers Centennial," June 29, 1899. This event celebrated the centennial of the settlement of Samuel and Mary Rodgers in Greene Township.
