General Notes: Husband - Samuel Weir, Sr.

In July, 1770, there arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a company of emigrants from County Antrim, Ireland, among whom were Robert Robinson, his wife, Rachel Weir, and Samuel Weir (brother of Rachel) and his wife, Lavina Robinson (sister of Robert Robinson). These families remained near each other, tarrying in Lancaster and Dauphin counties, finally proceeding to Big Sewickley, Westmoreland County, where they separated about the year 1777, Robert Robinson settling four miles north of Saltsburgh, Indiana County, and Samuel Weir coming to the vicinity of Zollarsville, Washington County. Here he tarried for a while, but finally settled on Pigeon creek near the present town of Vanceville.
