General Notes: Husband - Samuel B. Rinehart

He was reared on the farm in Washington township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and attended the district school and the Waynesboro and Millersville Normal School. He followed farming until twenty years of age, and then for five years divided his time between teaching and farming (teaching in winters). In 1865 he embarked in the hardware business at Waynesboro, which he continued for several years, meeting with marked success. (During his business life there he had several partners.) In 1883 he sold his interest in the hardware business, went west and spent some time in Kansas, where he met many relatives whom he had never seen before. In the same year (1883) he was appointed agent for Frick Manufacturing Company, and served in this capacity until 1886, when he was elected president of the company.
In politics he was a Republican.
