He came to America and then on to Opequon Creek with the family. He had married before going to Kentucky, and they had six children. He claimed land in Clark County, Kentucky, in 1781. His wife reportedly left him there, and he traded his 200 acres of land for a horse and returned to Virginia by 1783 were he married again. They had 7 children where they settled near Martinsburg, West Virginia.
