General Notes: Husband - Robert Witherup

He lived in Venango County, Pennsylvania, on the east side of the big Scrubgrass Creek near the mouth for a few years, until they migrated to Missouri. He accompanied a party on an exploring expedition up the Mississippi, and, being taken sick, he was left at an Indian village where a white missionary and his wife lived. When the rest of the party retuned they found that he had died and been buried, and so far as the family know his resting place is on the Red River. His wife returned to Pennsylvania and settled in Crawford County. [HVC 1919, 1065]

He was a river man, either rafting lumber or steamboating. He died in 1843 at Lake Pepin on the Mississippi. He had moved from Venango County to Iowa in 1837. After his death his widow came back to Hydetown, Crawford County, PA. [HCC 1899, 698]

He died on the Red River, Texas. [GPHAV, 1128]
