He was reared in his native village and obtained his educational training in the common schools of Enon Valley. After completing his education he purchased a team and engaged for a time in teaming, after which he operated a saw-mill for two years. He then entered the general store of N. S. Nicely as clerk, for three months, when, in partnership with Elmer E. McNees, he purchased the business from Mr. Nicely. There he was engaged thereafter, carrying a full line of general merchandise and enjoying a large patronage from the residents of that community.
Politically Mr. Wolf was a Republican. His religious affiliation was with the Presbyterian Church.
