At the age of four years he began to attend the old Hoey school of Franklin township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, Professor Shaw being then principal. He afterward studied for three terms at the Laird Institute. After leaving school he worked for seven years as head sawyer in his father's sawmill, and when his father retired he, in partnership with his brother, Michael J. Raymaley, bought the mill and operated it, doing a general lumber business until 1903, when he sold his interest to his brother. In 1900 he entered the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Baltimore, Maryland, and took a full course, graduating May 18, 1903, with the degree of Doctor of Medicine. He then took a course at the Lying-in Hospital, New York City, graduating January 1, 1904, with honors. In the same year he took a post-graduate course at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Baltimore, where he had taken his degree, making a specialty of diseases of the chest, nose and throat, and graduating January 1, 1904. After graduating he entered the office of Dr. A. A. Beacon, of Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, and after practicing there a short time went to Tyler County, West Virginia, where for four months he took charge of the practice of Dr. I. Dana Kahle. He then returned to Pennsylvania, and for a time took charge of the practice of Dr. S. R. Traker, of Greenoak. Meanwhile he had built on Main street, Export, an office equipped in the latest and most complete manner, which he opened for practice July 17, 1905. In August, 1905, he removed to Greenoak, where he had an extensive practice. Dr. Raymaley belonged to Carmel Lodge, No. 542, I. O. O. F., of Delmont, and the K. of P., No. 173, also of Delmont. He was enrolled in the Phi Chi fraternity of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, of Baltimore, Maryland. His political affiliations were with the Democratic party, and he was a member of the First Presbyterian church, of Murrysville. Dr. Raymaley was the first physician ever numbered among the descendants of Michael Raymaley, the founder of the American branch of the family.
