General Notes: Husband - George Johnson Reed

Civil War: he enlisted as a soldier in Company K, 105th Regiment, Penna. Volunteers. He was wounded May 5, 1864, in the Battle of the Wilderness, by a minnie ball striking him near the knee and passing up along the bone toward the thigh. His sister, Cynthia, found him in Douglas hospital, Washington, D. C. After six weeks' of careful nursing, the ball having been extracted, he died. He was brought home and buried with the "honors of war" just back of the U. P. church in Indiana. The remains were later removed to Oakland cemetery.
