General Notes: Husband - James Reade


He was a military officer of eminence in the French and Revolutionary war. In May, 1775, he was colonel of the second New Hampshire Regiment and held the rail-fence with John Stark at Bunker Hill. He was, on the recommendation of Washington, the first brigadier-general appointed by the provincial congress.
